Dune: Part 2 Movie Poster

Dune 2 is one of the best movies I’ve ever watched. Balancing themes of scarcity, religious fanaticism and revenge, it delivers a cautionary tale of the uncontrollable power of messiahs and political leaders that spin ideologies for their advantage. It’s impact inspired me to design a poster.

Something I found the other posters lacking was the raw craving for revenge that motivates Paul throughout the story. I also wanted to capture the essence of the desert, that dead, unforgiving landscape has been translated visually to a dark, grainy background. As the spice consumes those living on Dune, I gave the characters the same effect, to show their connection to the desert.

This has been a stepping stone in experimenting with the styles of brutalism in graphic design, and mixing them with my other passions.
